Need lyrics and tilte for "But this one thing I know, That when the crimson flow,...

But this one thing I know,
That when the crimson flow
Fell to the earth below
It fell on me.
My eyes were opened wide.
I saw Him crucified.
It was for me He died
On Calvary.

This song is stuck in my head. I know there must be more words. I know the tune, but the rest of the words are lost to me. Thanks!

Title: But This I Know
1. I do not know the depths of Jesus' love,
That brought Him down to earth from heaven above,
Nor why He bore the cross up Calvary
And shed His precious blood so willlingly.
2. I do not know what pain He suffered there,
The burden of my sin and shame to bear.
It may be well to hide it all from me,
Lest my own heart should break in sympathy.
3. I do not know what I can do, or say,
My debt of gratitude to Him to pay;
But I at least may cry,"O Christ divine!
Had I a thousand lives they should be Thine."
Chorus:
But this one thing I know: That when the crimson flow
Dropped to the earth below,
It fell on me.
My eyes were opened wide, I saw Him crucified,
And knew for me he died.
**********
Most of the chorus you wrote was right except for a couple phrases.
BTW - The tune to the verses is different from that of the chorus.
On Calvary.

Thanks for these lyrics. One of my favorites. Any idea how I might find the music itself and/or a recording?

A dear lady at our church has asked me to sing this song. After trolling the web, the only reference was on this site. I am happy to hear that someone else know it (or of it). I would love to obtain the music as well so that I can learn it and sing it for her. Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Has anyone found the sheet music for this song ( But This One Thing I Know) yet? It was written by C. Austin Miles in 1931. I would love to find it! Thanks!
you can email me at [email protected]

Have you heard from an Ann Hull?
Five years ago, I was searching and she sent me these pics.
If the pictures do not show up, write me and I'll send an email.

Joseph Wong

Pastor Joe,

I have taken some pictures of the hymn. It was publish in my denomination's hymnal back in the 1950s. I will see if I can find a copy of the actual book. I'm guessing there are copies floating around near here. The Missionary Denomination is here in Fort Wayne. I'll let you know if I can find a copy. Let me know if you cannot read the music from the pictures and I'll try again. I included several of the song, one of the cover and one of the Title page.

Blessings,

Ann Hull

Dear Ann;

What a beautiful surprise. I had given up hearing from anyone (was it Sgt. Ryan?). Thank you for taking the time to respond.
