The song is by a girl (now a woman), her name is DeLeon. She released the song on an album back in 1984. Here's the wiki link for her:

Here is the original it was song by a women and Deleon Richard’s remade the song. The original was James Cleveland album Quentella Caldwell and the Burnett Baptist Church Mass Choir
