This is the best song ever. Everytime I hear it, I want to cry. It's so beautiful. If you ever get the chance, listen to the boy choir Libera sing this song. You'll find it on their album Angel Voices.

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Prague. We attended a small chamber orchestra concert in the Spanish synagogue and heard an piece of Dvorak's symphony called "My Country". When the group began to play, I began to heard a familiar sound - "Going Home". I never knew its origin. Now, it becomes even more special.

Isn't there a version with "cherry pie" on the table? It adds fragrance to this beautiful song.

going home,
im a going home
quiet like, some still day
im just going home
its not far,just close by.
through an open door
work all done, care laid by,
going to fear no more.
mothers there expecting me,
fathers waiting too.
lotsof folkgathered there
all the friends i new,all the friends i knew
morning star lights the way
restless dreams all done
shadows gone, break of day,
real life just begun.
theres no break, theres no end.
just a living on
wide awake, with a smile,
going on and on.
going home, going home,
im just going home.
its not far just close by,
through an open door.
im just going home

Thanks to all for your renditions of going home. My fathers funeral was yesterday and this was his last song. It was a beautiful piece as we had the traditional pipes & drums. I checked out this websit to find the lyrics to this unforgettable melody.
