"Only the blood was the sacrifice"

I used to have a cassette tape of a bluegrass style family singing gospel. There was a wonderful song about the blood, but I can't remember anymore or the family that sang it. This one phrase goes through my mind with the the tune of just this phrase.. Any ideas?
