Need Help: Searching for this song for 20 years - Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand

Post by Saxon » Tue Apr 29, 2025 7:56 pm

***the song is NOT "Ten Thousand Angels" or "He Could Have Called Ten Thousand Angels," I am aware of that song, that's not the song I'm searching for***

***I also realize that I have a ridiculously-small amount of information (i.e. little to nothing to go on***

***I have searched the internet and many databases; I've had Directors at the nearest Seminary do deep dives...I've tried so many things***

***I am coordinating a big stage production for our church (Easter 2026) and I feel in my heart that this song is supposed to be an anchor for the whole production. Until now, I've just been searching for it because I loved listening to it. But I believe there's a much more important reason that I find it now.***

LYRICS I REMEMBER FROM THE SONG:
from the CHORUS-> "ten thousand times ten thousand...the angels could not understand...how The Father could let His only Son...die for sinful man"
from the BRIDGE-> "The Father broke the silence...He said roll away the stone...the suffering is over...a/my child is coming home!"
adjusted CHORUS at the END-> "ten thousand times ten thousand...oh the angels [?bid his train?]...He'll be King of Kings and Lord of Lords...when He comes again."

INFO/CLUES ABOUT THE LYRICS:
*The lyrics above are either 100% exactly accurate, or they are 99.99% accurate/precise.
*I don't remember the exact lyrics from the verses/other parts of the song, but earlier verses described Jesus in the desert (i.e. after the temptations) when the angels DID go and tend to Him; and the general/overall "theme" of the song is how the angels must have wanted to help Him at other times, especially on the cross, and how they waited for the Father to send them, but He didn't (for obvious reasons) but the idea of how the angels might not have understood is the core concept of the song
*Most (of the other) songs on the album were that traditional/sort've-hoakie-style/tempo (definitely not being negative, just trying to establish a reference) but the song I am looking for stood out from the rest: it was more refined, very powerful, it was "BIG" very very "big"

OTHER FACTS/CLUES:
*The group was a traditional southern gospel trio (or quartet) (all white males)
*The CD had a blue background with their picture on the cover
*I believe all (or almost all) of the songs on the album were original songs
*The style of singing was very traditional/"cliche" (again, not using those terms negatively) of the late-70s-late-80s style
*There is another song on the album that I believe is entitled "It's Not a Gamble" or something like that, and a lyric from it was, "It's not a gamble to trust in the Lord. His promises are Yea and Amen" (this is NOT the song I'm looking for, but it's on the same CD/album)

Thank you to anyone who is able to assist. God Bless.

I have tried to figure out most of the lyrics from the recording. I hope it helps!

Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand

A silence fell in Heaven,
Like its streets had never known.
And the angels stood bewildered around the throne.
Without question they had served Him,
And followed the orders,
To stand with Him once again.

One had brought the news to Mary,
That she would bear God’s son.
And He filled the sky with praises,
That night in Bethlehem.
Some fasting in the desert,
And heard His anguished prayer.
Each time the Father sent them, they brought Him loving care.

They were waiting for the Son to call them,
Anxious for the Father to say “Go.”
They could fly to His side in a moment,
But the Father slowly whispered “No.”
And ten thousand times ten thousand,
Oh, the angels could not understand,
How the Father could let His only Son die for sinful man.

They watched the soldiers mock Him,
Heard the crowd in anger cry.
Saw Him fall beneath His burden,
And they watched Him crucified.
In the horror of that moment,
In the darkness of the day,
They were astonished, as the Father slowly turned His face away.

The Father broke the silence,
He said “Roll away the stone!”
“His suffering is over, my Son is coming home!”

Now they are waiting for the Son to lead them,
And they are anxious for the Father to say “Go.”
And the saints are dressed for battle,
On horses white as snow.
And ten thousand times ten thousand,
Oh, the angels bid His train,
He’ll be King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
When He comes again.

And ten thousand times ten thousand,
Oh, the angels bid His train.
He’ll be King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
When He comes again!

Oh my goodness, THANK YOU!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U !!!!

This is obviously not the group/album where I know the song (from) but this is 100% the song. I assume I was wrong in thinking it was an original song (of the group). But the song (and full lyrics) is what I was really searching for (for sooooo long...oh my goodness for sooooo long). I spent the last several hours TODAY digging across organizations, music labels, copyright searches, property assessment searches looking for industry people, then finding them on facebook to pvt message them....(all of that was just to-DAY). You have no idea how hard I've tried to find this song. I truly believe it is THAT important that I find it.

Hopefully I can find the arrangement somewhere, or perhaps I can get someone who would know how to clean-up/sharpen and isolate the instrumentals....BUT THIS IS IT!!!!!! I have more searching to do, but this will UNDOUBTEDLY make it all happen. I cannot tell you (there are no words to express) how very very much I appreciate you taking the time to find this and send it to me. I don't know how to explain it, but I truly feel it will have a big impact. God bless you!!! I'm SOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can barely contain myself!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

My goodness, as I expressed in my reply to the person who posted the video, I just honestly cannot express how grateful I am for this. I can tell you spent a lot of time mapping out the lyrics, and I can't thank you enough. I'm still not 100% about that "bid His train" lyric, hahaha. I agree that that's what it sounds like, but every time I'd be driving my truck and singing (along with) the song, and I'd get to that line I'd think to myself ... "idk if that's the words...Idk what the heck that means" hahahaha. I think there are some old references/associations to an "entourage" so I suppose the context is there. God willing, there will be an entire choir singing the song, so I guess I'll have to settle on it at some point.

Again, thank you so very much. God bless.

No problem! I’m glad I could help. I was thinking that maybe the line “Bid His train” was a reference to Christ’s bride. I was talking to my grandma and she said it could be a reference to Isaiah 6:1.

Interesting. A few corrections (in case you're interested). The beginning of the audio is jumbled, and some words are cut completely out. But the lyrics came back to me once I started listening. There weren't many corrections needed, though, you did a great job getting them down:

A silence fell in Heaven,
Like its streets had never known.
And the angels stood bewildered around the Father's throne.
Without question they had served Him,
And flown at his command,
Now they waited for the order
To send them once again.

One had brought the news to Mary,
That she would bear God’s son.
And they filled the sky with praises,
That night in Bethlehem.
Saw Him fasting in the desert,
And heard His anguished prayer.
Each time the Father sent them, they brought Him loving care.

........

Now they are waiting for the Son to lead them,
And they are anxious for the Father to say “Go.”
And His army is dressed for battle,

.......

Everything else, I think you got word for word.

*****I'd still love to find the version of the group I initially thought were the originators of the song, or a cleaner version (any version). Otherwise, I might be in a position where I need to have it re-created. Which is doable, but would be quite an undertaking. I can't even find anything else on this lady Becky (any other song, album, label, etc). Cornerstone Music seems to just be a guy's personal collection. Maybe I can try to reach out to him******

Could be.... the first time she says it, I feel like you can distinctly hear the "t" (as in "train"). But the second time...idk... I don't hear the "t" as much, and it certainly sounds like it could be "reign."

I think "train" makes sense (visually)(the angels forming what would appear to be a long/wide/powerful "train" as in a bride's train, if you will) and certainly the metaphorical references of Jesus as the bride of the church would support that verbiage. The verse (or amended chorus) is obviously referencing Revelation 19 11-16 but I don't see anything there that clarifies these two mysterious words.

I almost think the confusion centers more on the word beFORE train. It sounds like "bid" but it could be something else. For instance, I think if it said they "formed His train" or "held His train" or "lit His train" (and who knows maybe it is "lit" as it "lit it up," idk, I mean that works, right?) but I think if it said anything like that (or we could clearly hear something like that), we probably wouldn't be talking it about it, ya know? Because it would just sorta make sense. So, although you could be right, it is certainly possible it is reign, I still think "bid His reign" or whatever it is, still might not seem right, so I think that first word "__?__ His __train/reign___" seems like the core of the confusion.

And it's possible that the song is just that old (maybe it dates back to the 1700's... and to "bid a train" was something people said, idk. I did trace "A" song named 'Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand' back to 1917 (I think) but after a deep dive and finding the singer (Oscar somebody) and finding the composer (some lady who wrote a bunch of music), I actually found the lyrics and even audio-only of the song it was 100% a different song. But the point is, that it could be a song that simply dates far enough back that "bid His train" made sense when it was composed.

OR......it could be something else, hahaha. Regardless, thanks for your contribution. God Bless.
