Hello,
I have been searching for the song that was done by Andy Griffith called Lead Me To That Rock. Its an old song and I have part of the music to it but some where through the years some of it got distroyed. I have a lot of old Hymnals that belong to my grandmother and it was in there but like I said some of it is missing. If anyone has the lyrics to this song I would appreciate it. Thank you
God Bless
Mary

Lyrics: Lead Me to The Rock
Lead Me to the Rock
© Sandra Neale, 2006
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I
When my heart is overwhelmed, hear my cry
Your mercy and Your truth preserve my life
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a shelter for me
A strong tower from the enemy
I will abide in Your presence forever
Dwell in the shadow of Your wings
Dwell in the shadow of Your wings
So I will sing praise
I will sing Your praise
I will sing praise
To Your name forever, and ever
HOPE THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR

Dear Guest, Here is another version of Lead Me To The Rock
PSALM 61:1,2,3
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I, that is higher than I.
For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I, that is higher than I.

Thank you all very much for these lyrics but these are not the ones. I know the song also talks about going down among the sheep and I know it was arrg. By B Sherrill. It is on the album of Andy Griffith called Somebody Bigger than you and I.
God Bless

Well if you go down in yonder for to search among the sheep
His Love has been a shelter for me
You'll find Him there so I am told with those He loves to keep
His Love has been a shelter for me
Why don't you lead me to the rock that is higher than I
Oh lead me to the rock, yes lead me to the rock
Why don't you lead me to the rock that is higher than I
His Love has been a shelter for me
If you'll go into the wilderness where dying ones are lost
His Love has been a shelter for me
You will find Him there to heal and bless no matter what the cost
His Love has been a shelter for me
Why don't you lead me to the rock that is higher than I
Oh lead me to the rock, yes lead me to the rock
Why don't you lead me to the rock that is higher than I
His Love has been a shelter for me
His love has been a shelter for me
His love has been a shelter for me
Why don't you lead me to the rock that is higher than I
Oh lead me to the rock, yes lead me to the rock
Why don't you lead me to the rock that is higher than I
His Love has been a shelter for me
Why don't you lead me to the rock that is higher than I
Oh lead me to the rock, yes lead me to the rock
Why don't you lead me to the rock that is higher than I
His Love has been a shelter for me
Why don't you lead me to the rock that is higher than I
Oh lead me to the rock, yes lead me to the rock
Why don't you lead me to the rock that is higher than I
His Love has been a shelter for me

The first verse is more like:
Well, if you go down to yonder fold to search among His sheep
(His love has been a shelter for me)
You will find Him there, so I am told, with those He loves to keep
(His love has been a shelter for me)

I have a CD put out by Bill Gaither that has LEAD ME TO THAT ROCK as sung by Stephen Hill (with others). The CD is titled Mountain Homecoming. The booklet inside indicates that the song is public domain. This may explain why different versions exist. This version is a bit different from the ones above but not by much. Nonetheless, this one does get your spiritual blood a pumpin'.
