Searching for lyrics: "I traveled down a lonely road..."

The first verse was something like this:
"I traveled down a lonely road and no one seemed to care. The burden on my weary back had bowed me to dispair. I oft' complained to Jesus how folks were treating me. And then I heard HIm say so tenderly. I walked the road of Calvary.... Just take your cross and follow me."
I remember that there were three verses and the song was slow and mellow. Could anyone find the entire lyrics and or the music and let me know?
This song was in one of those old Low Voice Songbooks. I believe the book color was brown and I believe it was published in the 1950s or 60s.
