I'm looking for the words and music to a chorus we used to sing called the hash chorus with combined Everyday With Jesus, Walking on the Kings Highway, Tell Me the Old Old Story and I Love Him Better Everyday.
I'm also looking for the words to a song and all I can remember is part of the chorus "The darker the night, the brighter the light shines. I'm walking with Jesus the Light of the World. Yes, He is the light, in Him is no Darkness. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mary Lou

I can't remember all the words to the Hash Chorus as you call it. My sister used to sing it a lot 40 years ago, but she's long since dead so I can't ask her. However, here are the words to "The Darker the Night"

The Darker the Night

The darker the night
The brighter the light shines
I'm walking with Jesus
The light of the world
Yes, He is the light
In Him is no darkness
The darker the night
The brighter the light
When I walk with Him.

The night may be dark
But why fear the darkness
I'm walking with Jesus
The light of the world
Yes, Christ is my guide
He walks by my side
When sorrow abounds
And darkness surrounds
In Him I confide

The outlook is dark
But bright is the up-look
I lift my eyes upward
And there is the light
He says don't despair
Cast on Me your care
The forces of night
Just can't stand the light
When Jesus is there.

Regards

Neil

Dear Mary Lou,

Here are the words my father taught me, and used in various youth ministries, quite a few years ago now:

Every day with Jesus
I'll be walking on the King's Highway.
Tell me the old, old story,
I love it better every day, Hallelujah!
I will make you fishers of men
if you'll only follow me.
Hallelujah, what a Saviour!
I'm from sin set,
you're from sin set,
we're all from sin set free!

Good luck trying to find sheet music to the Hash Chorus -- as far as I know it's a campfire-type song. I could write it down for you, I suppose, but at this point I don't have sheet music notation software -- would have to hand-write it on staff paper, then scan it in and e-mail it to you or something. Only two lines actually follow the tunes of the songs they were taken from, and those are

Line one "every day with Jesus", and
Line five "I will make you fishers of men".

I will see if I can write it down (in single notes).

The copyright is owned by John Bava. Not sure if he wrote it, but likely so... From 1959
