I'll take Jesus

I was hoping to find the lyrics to a song I think is called "I'll take Jesus". I remember it from my childhood in the late 70s early 80s. The only part of the song I remember is as follows. "I'll take Jesus. I'll take Jesus. I've tried those earthly pleasures and they've failed. When you see the gates of Heaven, and you hear the Master say, it's Me or the world my child, which one will you take? I'll take Jesus". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Alicia

I'll Take Jesus

Verse I
As they gambled for the robe He wore
They chose a worldly trail
And they didn't think of eternity
As the soldiers drove the nails
Will we learn from what they done
Or make the same mistake
Jesus or the world my child
Which one will you take

Chorus
I'll take Jesus, I'll take Jesus
I tried these worldly pleasures and they failed
When you see the gates of Heaven
And you hear the Master say
Me or the world my child
Which one did you take

Verse II
When the pages of my life have turned
And time has rolled away
The greatest deeds that I have done
Won't help me on that day
And all my earthly treasures
That I have laid away
They'll be to me just a memory
And this you'll hear me say

Hey DRSWEETS...do you know who sings this??? I have a recording of it with a lady singing it and she has a beautiful voice. You can tell she is singing from her heart but I have no idea who it is. Would love to have some of her other stuff. I have been looking for years for her.

please, if anyone knows, post here with answer. Thank you.

by the way, I have the chords but they are at church. I can pick them up tonight and post if no one beats me to it.

I hope these chords line up with the words. You get the idea anyway. there are C7s in the verse right before the F, sorry I didn't put them in.

This may not be exactly right as I figured them out myself since I couldn't find the song anywhere when I was working on it several years ago. It works for me and matches up with the version that I heard. If you sing it in a different key it is not hard to change.

Please, if anyone knows the lady who sings it, please post. Thanks and
God bless. Niki

OK, the chords didn't exactly line up with the words but I hope you get the idea, If not, let me know and I will try again.

I didn't realize that drsweets posted in 2006. Guest that asked for the chords, do you know who sings this?

thanks, Niki

I know Jason Crabb has been singing it and I think one of his sisters used to sing it.

I asked for the chords, Thanks for posting them Niki. Dixie Echoes and Jason Crabb have both recorded this song.

Thanks mr tlq. I will check out Dixie echos, pretty sure it's not the crabbs, least not the new ones. I first heard the song in 1999 I think and the woman singing it is who I would really like to find. It was on a tape someone had that was copied who knows how many times so I don't know when it was originally recorded. Other songs on the tape were

I'm persuaded to believe
Don't give up on the child of God
Jesus, the sweetest name I know
I'd rather have Jesus
More of you

and several others, all sung by the same woman. No back up vocals, just her. you can feel the Spirit when she sings. I just don't know who she is. any ideas? It isn't anyone singing these days, that I know of because I have not heard her and I have checked out a lot of sound alikes.

Thanks, Niki
