Communion Song - "This Is My Body"
Communion Song - "This Is My Body"
Looking for an old Catholic communion hymn - believe the title was "This Is My Body". I'm looking for the lyrics and music for the entire song. I believe one
verse and chorus went like this:
Chorus: This is my body, given for your freedom
This is my blood, which was shed for all of mankind
Take all and eat, 'til the day of my return
Peace to Simon, Yahweh's people
Put your sorrows in my hands
At the table of remembrance
You shall know when the hour is come
Repeat Chorus:
verse and chorus went like this:
Chorus: This is my body, given for your freedom
This is my blood, which was shed for all of mankind
Take all and eat, 'til the day of my return
Peace to Simon, Yahweh's people
Put your sorrows in my hands
At the table of remembrance
You shall know when the hour is come
Repeat Chorus:

I remember a half of verse: "on your journey to the kingdom you will the find the strength you need at this table rembrance of my rising from the dead." I was hoping to find the entire hymn that often rattles in my head.

Communion Song - "This Is My Body"
This is my Body, given for your freedom.
This is my Blood which was shed for all of mankind.
Take, all, and eat, till the day of my return.
Peace to Sion, Jahweh's people;
Put your sorrows in my hands.
As I once led you to freedom,
Come now to my Father's house.
On your journey to the kingdom,
You will find the strength you need
At this table of remembrance
Of my rising from the dead.
Hear, my flock, now hear me calling
For I know you all by name.
Come with me, the Blessed Shepherd,
To the new Jerusalem.
When the whole world shakes with terror,
When the sky bursts into flame,
On the clouds shall I appear, and
You shall know my hour has come.
This is my Blood which was shed for all of mankind.
Take, all, and eat, till the day of my return.
Peace to Sion, Jahweh's people;
Put your sorrows in my hands.
As I once led you to freedom,
Come now to my Father's house.
On your journey to the kingdom,

Of my rising from the dead.
Hear, my flock, now hear me calling

When the sky bursts into flame,
On the clouds shall I appear, and
You shall know my hour has come.

Communion Song - "This Is My Body"
How can I get the music to this song. For years I sang the lyrics to this song to my children. I always wanted to find it. As a child I went to a Catholic school in the 70's and we sang this song at church all the time when we went to mass. I loved it and sang it all the time when I was a child and sang it to my children when they were young. Now I'm 48 years old and still to this day I sing the solo of this song and decided to look it up to see if anyone had played it on YouTube. There are songs the same title but not the song I was looking for so I'm hoping someone can find it or sing it and post it so I can enjoy listening to it again. I might give my priest a homework assignment to look in the old missleettes to see if be can find the music to this so I can have someone play and sing it so I can have it posted for all of you people to enjoy.
