A friend of mine, Russ Cropley, included another verse when he taped it for family and friends:
"I am amazed that God His Son not sparing
Gave Him to die to free my soul from sin.
And yet, I know that by His death I am set free.
He looked beyond my fault and saw my need."

And then one day we we shall meet in glory
Oh What a Day of Joy that will be
He will say child come sit down here beside me.
I tell you why and I will tell you how.

The lyrics are indeed lovely, but the music has been around for hundreds of years. It's the tune called "Londonderry Aire" and is most popular to the words of the Irish ballad "Danny Boy." Perhaps it has been ARRANGED by the composer of the lyrics, but the tune is an old and beloved one. Just saying -

John Wesley had a way of writing hymns for all to sing which is why most of his hymns are set to the melodys of bar and pub tunes
