Hymn Lyrics Search - Name That Hymn

Hi, I am trying to find the lyrics to a hymn, might be from New Zealand because everything I have searched starts referencing the New Zealand Prayer book. Here are the lyrics I can remember:
God the earth-maker, creator of all
Love at our beginning Mercy when we fall ... (beginning of verse 1, I think)
I am also pretty sure the second and third verses start "God the pain-bearer" and "God the Life-Giver"
I think the final verse pulls it all together: "Earth-maker, Pain-Bearer, Life-giver..."

It will probably help you to know that it goes to the same tune as the hymn "Lord of All Hopefulness" (Slane, Irish ballad melody)

If you figure this out I will be both impressed and grateful, trying to remember the words or even find the song is making me crazy...
