I know it's called "A telephone operator" but I can't find it anywhere either.
I remember some of the lyrics.
A telephone operator
Received a call one day,
It brought a tear to her eyes
To hear a small voice say
Please may I speak to mommy
She's with the angel band
Just tell her it's about daddy
I know she'll understand
You see my daddy was a drunkard
and wicked too I know
It made her so unhappy
Because she loved him so
Sorry that is all I can remember of the song.
This is the rest of it. My Mommy taught it to me and used to sing it with me too..
You see he was a drunkard,
and wicked too I know,
it made us so unhappy ,
because we loved him so,
before my mommy left us ,
she taught me how to pray,
so I could pray that Daddy
would quit his wicked ways ,
well last night I heard him praying,
like she used to pray,
I heard him asking JESUS
to take his sins away ,
I'd love to tell my mommy
up there in the blue,
that when I comes to meet
her, I'll bring my daddy too
