Just Before the Trial
1. Just before the trial, Jesus
entered dark Gethsemane.
Leaving eight outside, He took Peter
and two sons of Zebedee.
Oh, the anguish in the Garden
as again He leaves the three.
When He went a little farther,
all the way to Calvary.
2. Hear Him crying, hear Him groaning
Death sweeps o'er Him like a flood.
"Let this cup pass from Me, Father."
Sweat rolled down like drops of blood.
"It's not my will, but I will drink it.
Let thy will be done in me.
Then He went a little farther
all the way to Calvary.
3. Now at Pilate's bar behold him
As the mob who mocks him cried,
"Away, away, give us Barabbas
Let this Christ be crucified."
Oh, Barabbas, Oh, Barabbas
Jesus surely died for thee
when he went a little farther
all the way to Calvary.
chorus:
Can we go a little farther,
farther than we've been before?
For we are workers now for Jesus;
can we do a little more?
