This is how I remember it:
I awake to the day on a mountain high
Where the sun is bright in a perfect sky.
The pines, like arrows, are pointing above,
My world is peaceful because of God's love.
This day is my own, I must use it with care.
So when night comes, and I say my prayers,
I thank you God for a beautiful day.
This is my morning song.
I awake to the day when the shadows of night
Have disappeared in the sun's first light.
The trees' green branches look down from above,
My world is peaceful because of God's love.
This day is my own, I must use it with care.
So when night comes, and I say my prayers,
I thank you God for a beautiful day.
This is my morning song.
It was in our music book in about the 8th grade, c. 1965. I have always loved it!
