Hello,
I also loved this song/hymn and it was sang by us as we made our First Holy Communion in Australia.
Just re the second paragraph, we sang the fourth line as: "For like little children... Of Bible times."
I recall it was lovely to think of other children also meeting Jesus.
Today is my day
I've waited so long
And at last it's come
For like
little children
of Bible times
I'm going to meet Our Lord
So join together and sing and pray
This is my First Communion Day.
Would be great to hear if anyone else knows the origin of this song!
Today is my day was one of my First Communion hymns, in 1975 (I attended St. Monicas' Primary School, in Bendigo, Victoria - Australia). Loved the song, I loved the day. Beautiful memories.
