In Bethlehem
There was no rooom
For him who sleeps
In stable gloom.
The oxen watch
From cattle stall,
The sleeping child,
The Lord of all.
The silver stars
Far overhead
Are canopy
For manger bed,
Upon the hills
The shepherds keep
Their lonely lonely watch
By weary sheep.
As through the night
The angels sing,
The birthday of
The newborn King,
To comfort him
In manger bed,
We kneel, and we
Are comforted.
