Here are the lyrics that my sisters and I sang as a children gospel trio:
When we climb the highest hill some morning,
When we've left the valley far behind,
When we've passed the road's last bend,
We'll be welcomed by the Friend,
Who's been watching oer' us as the trail we climbed,
Then He'll take us walking through the garden,
And we'll rest where all is calm and still,
Then He'll wipe away each tear, every pain and every fear,
When we stand upon the highest hill.
When the angel bands are softly singing,
And the bells are ringing sweet and clear
Hand in hand we'll walk along, as we listen to each song,
And each rising swelling chord, we'll thrill to hear,
Then we'll sing the grand old songs together,
Til with joy our happy hearts shall thrill,
Every care shall pass away, and we'll find a brighter day,
When we stand upon the highest hill.
