I WILL RISE UP FROM MY GRAVE
WORDS & MUSIC BY JACK TONEY

1 WHEN MY LAST DAY HAS ENDED HERE ON EARTH
AND MY BODY IS LOWERED IN THE DIRT;
I'LL HAVE NO FEAR THO' DEATH NOW HAS ME BOUND,
'CAUSE I WILL RISE UP FROM MY GRAVE TO MEET THE LAMB.

CHORUS
I WILL RISE UP TO MEET HIM IN THE SKY,
ON THAT HOMECOMING MORNING BY AND BY.
WHEN THE TRUMPET OF GOD BEGINS TO SOUND.
WE WILL RISE UP FROM THE GRAVE TO MEET THE LAMB.

2 FATHER, MOTHER, SISTER, BROTHER, I WILL SEE.
THEY'LL BE COMING, FOR THEY'VE WON THE VICTORY;
NOW AT LAST SWEET PEACE WE HAVE FOUND,
WE HAVE RISEN FROM THE GRAVE TO MEET THE LAMB.

Thank you so much for sharing the words to "His Hand Reached Further Down." Our church in North Carolina used to sing this in the choir. Our pastor really loved this song. We have moved away and I have not been able to find the music. Thanks again. AKD

His Hand Reached Further Down

Verse: 1
When I think of where I came from, and how Jesus brought me out,
from a life of shame and sorrow, lost in sin without a doubt,
with all my heart, I want to praise him, for his love he gave to me,
when the precious hand of Jesus, reached way down and lifted me.

Chorus:
From the depths of the pit, I tried so hard, but I couldn't touch him,
there in my despair, I cried so loud, and yet it seemed he didn't hear me,
lost and undone, full of sin and so corrupt,
God's hand reached further down than I could reach up.

Verse: 2
Like a man locked up in prison, had no one to go my bail,
every time I sought for freedom, all endeavors only failed,
there I was in sin's dark dungeon, bound in chains of misery,
until the Lord paid me a visit, unlocked my cell and set me free.
