One of the versions goes something like this:
Once a Man, whom we know as the Son of God
Hung upon a cruel tree
He suffered pain as no mortal man
He took my place, He did it all for me.
CHO: He did it all for me, each drop of blood He shed, He shed for me,
When the Saviour cried, bowed His head and died,
O praise the Lord, He did it all, for me!
When I step just inside of those gates of pearl
And the Master's face I see
I'll thank Him for His redeeming love
O praise the Lord, He did it all for me!
And there may be another verse or two.
I may have fudged a few words here and there but that's the gist of it. I know this song was in a number of songbooks from the early '70's and several singers recorded it. If this _isn't _ the song, sorry, and I do hope you find it!
