old song by african americans in the south

by songinmyheart » Tue Jun 06, 2017 9:42 pm

I looked through 1/2 doz old songbooks and found
OH WON'T YOU WATCH with the phrase:
Oh, won't you watch with me one hour,
While I go yonder, while I go yonder?
Oh, won't you watch with me one hour,
While I go yonder and pray?
and another hymn, I'M A SOLDIER BOUND FOR GLORY with the phrase:
I love Jesus, he's my Saviour,
Jesus smiles and loves me too.
and another I'M OVERCOMING with the phrase:
I'm overcoming, I'm overcoming,
I'm overcoming, I'm overcoming;
For I love Jesus, He's my Saviour,
And He smiles and He loves me too.
So I'm thinking this is a mashup of Praise songs
and I would love to be in that kind of Church service !

Praise The Lord

old song sang in early days in the south : anyone knows all the lyrics

Oh, won't you watch with me one hour,
While I go yonder, while I go yonder?
Oh, won't you watch with me one hour,
While I go yonder and pray?
I'm overcoming, I'm overcoming,
I'm overcoming, I'm overcoming;
For I love Jesus, He's my Saviour,
And He smiles and He loves me too.
