The best version of this song I ever heard was done by a group called The Word, organized with talented teens from Sacred Heart Church in Wadsworth, Ohio. The version was more dramatic with more soprano and beautiful ending. They cut an awesome album sometime around 1969/1971. It had all the great songs like ‘Raise You Up on Eagles Wings’, ‘To Be Alive and Feeling Free’
and the Wedding Song. I was in the group for awhile, but I left before the album was cut. They played at my wedding. The Tom Parker sounds familiar but I kept thinking the composer was named Ray…. I’m just too old to remember. What a great time it was to have this meaningful music. I actually think it helped seal my Faith!
It’s hard to find any Catholic Church that uses guitars and drums anymore. God Bless!

Hi Joan,
Here are the lyrics. I don’t have a source for the sheet music

In the still of the morning, we awake with the dawn.
We live our day in the challenge of faith,
but what will we have to lead us on?

Chorus
We'll just say that we've been to the mountain
And caught a glimpse of all that we could be
We will know that a new day is dawning
With a morning sun for all of us to see

In the rays of the sunrise, we find the warmth of new life
Our faith is strengthened as the mysteries unfold
Where lays the answer How will we know

Chorus

We’ve gone with Him to the hillside
His glory He has shown to man
The sacred promise of a brighter morning sun
And living in our faith we’ll see the dawn

I don't know why I thought of this hymn today. It's probably been 40 yrs since I played it. I was thinking that was by Tom Parker, but digging deeper, I found the original recording on YouTube. https://youtu.be/ZfSivWxZeiQ. The group is a real who's who of Louisville/Cincinnati post Vatican II composers.

There's also a bluegrass cover, https://youtu.be/OEUkFqwKWLM

Hi Scout1969

I found the lyrics you posted. I am not familiar with the song.
Does the following belong to the same song?

In the still of the morning, we awake with the dawn.
We greet our day in the challenge of faith,
but what will we have to lead us on?

We'll just say that we've been to the mountain
And caught a glimpse of all that we could be
We will know that a new day is dawning
With a morning sun for all of us to see

We'll just say that we've been to the mountain, and caught a glimpse of all the we should be,

More--we will know that a new day is dawning, with a morning sun for all of us to see. I miss this song from my youth group 40 years ago
