The best version of this song I ever heard was done by a group called The Word, organized with talented teens from Sacred Heart Church in Wadsworth, Ohio. The version was more dramatic with more soprano and beautiful ending. They cut an awesome album sometime around 1969/1971. It had all the great songs like ‘Raise You Up on Eagles Wings’, ‘To Be Alive and Feeling Free’
and the Wedding Song. I was in the group for awhile, but I left before the album was cut. They played at my wedding. The Tom Parker sounds familiar but I kept thinking the composer was named Ray…. I’m just too old to remember. What a great time it was to have this meaningful music. I actually think it helped seal my Faith!
It’s hard to find any Catholic Church that uses guitars and drums anymore. God Bless!
