She wasn't fancy, just very simple; she lived on meager fare
Five children she called her own; sometimes their feet were bare
The house that she lived in was nothing at all to see
But she left the greatest treasure for her children and me
She passed down a legacy that keeps marching on
Through her children and their children through their message and their song
She told us of Jesus and showed His love everyday
As she followed the Master in her own simple way
Time has passed so quickly; now our turn has come
We're building a legacy to leave these little ones
It's time spent together 'round the old fire place
Playing games, praying together and seeking His face
Now everyday you're building a legacy, did you know
It's something that will follow you but must be built before you go
Will your children spend your treasures on things that will not last
Or will you leave them a legacy that they too can pass
We're going to leave a legacy; what kind will it be
Will it last for fifty years or for all eternity
Let's live our lives for Jesus and show the children the way
To pass on this legacy and see Heaven someday
