What a beautiful thought I am thinking
1. What a beautiful thought I am thinking,
Concerning the great Speckled Bird;
Remember her name is recorded,
On the pages of God’s Holy Word.
All the other birds flocking around her,
And she is despised by the squad;
And the great Speckled Bird in the Bible,
Represents you the great Church of God.
Chorus

:
She is spreading her wings for a journey,
She is going to take by and by;
When the great trumpet sounds in the morning;
She will meet her dear Lord in the sky.
2. With all other churches against her,
They envy her glory and fame;
They hate her because she is chosen,
And has never denied His dear name.
Desiring to lower her standard,
They watch every move that she makes;
They love to find fault with her teaching,
But really they find no mistake.
3. In the presence of all her despisers,
With song never uttered before;
She’ll arise and be gone in a moment,
Till the great tribulations are o’er.
I am glad that I learned of her meekness,
I am glad that my name is on her book;
For I want to be one never fearing,
On the face of our Savior to look.
4. Her wings shelter men of all nations,
Of earth’s every color and race;
She has gathered them all in her keeping,
To present to the Lord face to face.
When Christ cometh descending from heaven,
On a cloud as He writes in His Word;
I’ll be joyfully carried to meet Him,
On the wings of the great Speckled Bird.
