What makes a dying saint lift up her hands
And thank God for all the years she was able to stand
Then with a weary sigh a far-away look in her eye
She begins to say this prayer as if she's almost there

Lord put a white robe around me
and give me a crown to wear
Let me take your hand let me understand its forever
Then lead me to my promise land

So if I stumble on life's shifting sands

For the mountains are tall and the road is oh so rough
Just one glimpse of my promise land will be enough
