No disrespect intended to the talent of Elvis Presley, or anyone else, but in my opinion, Tennessee Ernie Ford did a more heartfelt version of this song than any other I have heard.

Our song book has this version - soprano sings the first part, with alto, bass & tenor doing the repeat. On the chorus the alto leads with other parts repeating. 1st verse: I wandered alone....................................down sin's lonesome valley I wandered alone ..............................

This song was sung by Tennessee Ernie Ford, and also by Glen Payne of the Cathedrals. Would like to have the lyrics - makes one stop and think!

The group I heard sing this was the Chuck Wagon Gang (not the new group singing now, but the older one with Roy Carter singing bass). I think they are one of the best with family harmony - you don't hear that much any more.
