Lyrics to the song "Stand By Me

No disrespect intended to the talent of Elvis Presley, or anyone else, but in my opinion, Tennessee Ernie Ford did a more heartfelt version of this song than any other I have heard.

The Lord is My Shepherd

Our song book has this version - soprano sings the first part, with alto, bass & tenor doing the repeat. On the chorus the alto leads with other parts repeating. 1st verse: I wandered alone....................................down sin's lonesome valley I wandered alone ..............................

Looking for My Living Will Not Be In Vain

songinmyheart-

Thank you for posting these lyrics. Since I am female, I will probably change the words a bit and sing "as a Christian ought". In my opinion, a life lived in vain is a wasted life.

Looking for My Living Will Not Be In Vain

This song was sung by Tennessee Ernie Ford, and also by Glen Payne of the Cathedrals. Would like to have the lyrics - makes one stop and think!

STANDING OUTSIDE THE PORALS

The group I heard sing this was the Chuck Wagon Gang (not the new group singing now, but the older one with Roy Carter singing bass). I think they are one of the best with family harmony - you don't hear that much any more.

Move Up A Little Closer

That's it! Thank you very much. It's frustrating when a song you once knew so well only comes in snatches of words. I think I shall have to start writing everything down. Again - thank you.

Move Up A Little Closer

Looking for lyrics to Move Up A Little Closer I can only recall part of the first verse: Oh, how well I can remember at old camp-meeting time I'd linger in the shadows, try to hide this face of mine Chorus is: Move up a little closer, don't stand in the shadows Come out and be counted with the child...

Song Lyrics - The Lord Will Make A Way Somehow

I have this version that my Dad often sang - I am on a heavenly highway, leading to that land above All this world I have forsaken, just to serve the One I love Though the way gets rough and rugged, low before the cross I bow, Saying to my soul, "Be patient, the Lord will make a way somehow.&qu...
