Looking for the words to a bluegrass song " I Am Barabbas"
I am looking for the words to a bluegrass song " I Am Barabbas" I hear it occasionally on a Sunday bluegrass gospel station but have not heard who plays or sings it. Can anyone help?
God's love supercedes all. For if God is with us who can be against us.
Thanks,
Eddie Haun

Thank God I found these lyrics
I Am Barabbas
On the day of the feast a favor was given
One man must die and one would keep livin'
When Pilate asked the question, " Which man will it be"
They cried out my name so I could go free.
Chorus
I am Barabbas, He died in my place.
I'm filthy with sin yet covered by grace.
I've nothing to bargain. I've nothing to give.
I am Barabbas, yet I can live.
Now I am no different than Barabbas back then.
I was sentenced to die because of my sin.
Then Christ asked a question, "Which way will it be?"
And I called out His name so I could go free.
Repeat Chorus

Eddie, any chance you know who recorded the version of this song that you found these words to?

Hello, My name is Russell Allen. I wrote this song for my group Locust Ridge. My good friend Jimbo Whaley also recorded this song with his group Greenbrier. I am also pleased to say that one of my musical heros, Marty Raybon has recorded it for his This That and the Other Vol. 2 CD. Check out our web site LocustRidge.org for more information on the group and my songs. God Bless--Russell Allen

I was actually thinking about some of the Godly men of the old testament. I felt really bad when I compared myself to them. They had such a fire and closeness to God. They had "Backbone" (another one of my songs). But as I thought about Barrabas I could see myself in his life. Just as Christ took the place of the guilty Barrabas, he also took the place of the guilty Russell Allen. I truely am "filthy with sin yet covered by grace".
