I always thought it was:There is a tavern in the town (in the town) and there my true love sits him down and drinks his wine just as merry as can be and never ever thinks of me. .cho. Fare thee well for I must leave thee do not let this parting grieve thee for the time has come for you and I to say goodbye. Adieu, adieu kind friend, adieu. I can no longer stay with you. I'll hang my heart (harp?) on the weeping willow tree and my the world go well with thee.

Just remembered second verse! Oh, dig my grave both wide and deep. Place marble at my head and feet. And on my breast a snow white dove to show the world I died for love.
