broadman hymnal - Swing Wide The Gates

Post by Guest » Tue Mar 06, 2007 3:57 am

I once was lost in sin but Jesus took me in
And then a little light from heaven filled my soul
It bathed my heart in love and wrote my name above
And just a little talk with Jesus made me whole

Chorus:
(Now let us) Have a little talk with Jesus
(Let us) Tell Him all about our troubles
(He will) Hear our faintest cry
(And He will) Answer by and by
(Now when you) Feel a little prayerful yearning
(As your) Heart unto heaven is turning
(You will) Find a little talk with Jesus makes it right

Sometimes my path seems drear without a ray of cheer
And then a cloud of doubt may hide the light of day
The mist of sin may rise and hide the starry skies
But just a little talk with Jesus clears the way

I may have doubts and fears, my eyes be filled with tears
But Jesus is a friend who watches day and night
I go to Him in prayer, He knows my every care
And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right

I have a new CD of Gospel Karoake Hymn's. It says they are in the style of the Broadmen Hymnal, yet my friend who has an old Broadmen Hymnal isn't finding any of the the songs. I would love to find the written music for such songs as: Nothing can Compare, How about your Heart, and The Other Side of Jordan plus 13 more. I have the words, but it would make it easier if I had the music,(the roadmap) as we say .

To Segun Olopade,

Here is the lyrics to one of the song "He gave me back the bond"

He gave me back the bond;
It was a heavy debt;
And as he gave he smiled and said,
"Thou wilt not me forget."

He gave me back the bond;
The seal was torn away;
And as he gave he smiled and said,
"Think thou of me always."

That bond I still will keep,
Although it cancelled be,
It tells me of the love of him
Who paid the debt for me.

I look on it and smile;
I look again and weep;
That record of his love for me
I will for ever keep.

It is a bond no more;
But it shall ever tell
All that I owed was fully paid
By my Immanuel.

Hope that was helpful. I was searching for it today myself when I came across your request. I really love that song.
Bless you.

I am not sure if this is what you are searching but I hope it helps

I dreamed of a city called Glory
It was so bright and so fair
As I entered that gate, I cried holy
All the angels met me there
And They carried me from mansion to mansion
And all The sights I saw
I said I want to see Jesus
He's the One who died for all

I bowed on my knees and cried Holy, holy, holy
I clapped my hands and sang Glory,
Glory to the Son of God
Glory to the Son of God

When I entered the gates of the city
My Loved ones all knew me well
They took me down the streets of heaven
All the saints were too many to tell
I saw Abraham, Jacob and Isaac
Talked with Mark, sat down with Timothy
But then I said, I want to see Jesus
He's the One who died for me

I bowed on my knees and cried Holy, holy, holy
I clapped my hands and sang Glory,glory, glory
I clapped my hands and sang Glory
I clapped my hands and sang Glory
I clapped my hands and sang Glory
Glory to the Son of God
Glory to the Son of God

Oluwakemi,
I certainly can not thank you enough for the lyrics, I have searched for it for years, never really seen it before except for the yoruba version.
Thank you and God bless.
