"The Stone Was Rolled Away" old hymn
Part of the hymn is:
"On a lonely road a' walkin', two disciples gently talking,
When a stranger overtook them by the way.
It was Jesus, He had risen
That our sins would be forgiven,
The stone was rolled away, The Lord was gone"
My grandfather used to play this on the guitar, sometimes with friends and my aunts (& sometimes other family) would sing when I was a child. Don't know where the old song books are now. Thanks for any help!

Here is the chorus. There was one line I couldn't recall. I think it was only the one verse that you have.
Cho.
Oh, the stone was rolled away
He's no longer where He lay
He has risen for I feel Him in my soul
*******************************************
But the grave it could not keep Him
The stone was rolled away
My Lord was gone
Cho.
Oh, the stone was rolled away
He's no longer where He lay
He has risen for I feel Him in my soul
*******************************************
But the grave it could not keep Him
The stone was rolled away
My Lord was gone

"The Stone Was Rolled Away" old hymn
I want to sing this at church this Easter. It is an old song I first heard with my grandparents when we would sit and listen to his bluegrass gospel collection. I believe it goes like this:
Dawn had come and it was Sunday
All the whole world was in mourning;
The Savior had been crucified alone.
Faithful friends they came to see Him,
but the stone it could not keep Him,
The stone was rolled away,
The Lord was gone!
Chorus:
Oh, the stone was rolled away
He's no longer where He lay!
He's alive for I feel Him in my soul!
Long ago His work was ended
And to glory He ascended,
The stone was rolled away,
The Lord was gone.
On a lonely road walking, two disciples stood there talking
When a stranger overtook them by the way.
It was Jesus, He had risen
That our sins might be forgiven
The stone was rolled away
The Lord was gone!
Hope this helps, Praise the Lord! He is Risen!!!

These are the words from my mother's handwritten song book. I have a 3rd verse, but was one that my mother wrote and added to it. Basically, all the words are nearly the same as above. My mother's name was Rev. Opal Dyal Smith from Demorest, Georgia. [email protected]
The Stone Was Rolled Away
Dawn had come and it was Sunday
All the world was still in mourning;
For the Savior had been crucified alone.
Faithful friends had come to see Him,
Found the stone that could not keep him;
The stone was rolled away, the Lord was gone!
Chorus:
Oh! The stone was rolled away,
He's no longer where He lay,
He has risen, for I feel Him in my soul!
Long ago, His work here ended,
Unto Heaven, He ascended;
The stone was rolled away, the Lord was gone!
On a lonely road a walking; two disciples stood there talking
When a stranger overtook them by the way;
It was Jesus, who had risen
That our sins may be forgiven,
The stone was rolled away, the Lord was gone!
(my mother's verse)
Mary found two angles standing,
One at the head and the other at the foot,
Where the body of Jesus Christ had lain.
They said, "Fear not, He has risen"
In glory arose to Heaven,
The stone was rolled away, The Lord was gone!
