need lyrics - I'll be waiting by the river for you
Far Side Banks of Jordan
I believe my steps are growing wearier each day,
Still I have a journey on my mind;
The wars of this old world has ceased to make me want to stay,
But my one regret is leaving you behind.
If it proves to be God's will that I am first to go,
And somehow I've a feeling it will be;
When it comes your time to travel, likewise, don't prolong,
For I will be there waiting, don't you see.
I'll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan,
I'll be waiting, drawing pictures in the sand;
And when I see you coming I will rise up with a shout,
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand.
Through this life we've labored hard to earn our meager fare,
It brought us trembling hands and failing eyes;
I'll just rest there on the shore and wait for that glad day,
Until you join me there in paradise.
I'll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan,
I'll be waiting, drawing pictures in the sand;
And when I see you coming I will rise up with a shout,
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand.
I'll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan,
I'll be waiting, drawing pictures in the sand;
And when I see you coming I will rise up with a shout,
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand.
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand.
I believe my steps are growing wearier each day,
Still I have a journey on my mind;
The wars of this old world has ceased to make me want to stay,
But my one regret is leaving you behind.

need lyrics - I'll be waiting by the river for you
I'LL BE WAITING AT THE RIVER FOR YOU
B flat
G C G
If I have to make the crossing of the Jordan deep and wide,
D
And you linger in this life, I Promise you.
G C G
When your life on earth is over, and you come to cross the tide
D G
I'll be waiting at the river for you.
C G
No more hard aches, no more sorrow, no tears to dim the eye
D
I will never say goodbye again to you.
G C G
Hand in hand we'll stroll together, walking Heaven's Avenue
D G
I'll be waiting at the river for you.
C G
Just beyond on that shining river, lies a land of pure delight
D
Where someday I'll start a life again anew.
G C G
And in my Mansion built by Jesus where no one shall never die
D G
I'll be waiting at the river for you.

need lyrics - I'll be waiting by the river for you
That song was written by my great grandfather. The song touches my heart and is sung at all my families funerals in reminder that someday we will all be together again.

It's always wonderful to hear from the families and loved ones of writers of some of the great hymns. We'd love to hear any stories or accounts of your great grandfather's life and how we came to write this song!
God bless,
