Something better than gold

Post by brat2every1 » Sat Jun 19, 2010 4:15 am

A long time ago I heard this cute song but I can't remember most of it. It starts out, A little man desired one day the savior to behold. He climbed into a sycamore tree for something better than gold. I want to teach it to my granddaughter so she can sing it in church. Can anyone tell me the rest of it please?

Oh yes, oh yes, oh praise the Lord, there's something better than gold.

Oh yes, oh yes, praise the Lord, there's something better than gold.
For Jesus can wash you whiter than snow, that's something better than gold.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, with courage brave and true.
Were thrust into the flaming fire, for something better than gold.
But the power of God with them was found, and the fire could not take
hold. They then came out with a song and a shout, with something better than gold.

When Peter and John went up to pray, as the customs were of old.
They spied a lame man sitting in the gate, begging for silvery and gold.
The took him by the hand, and put him on his feet, and calmed his troubled soul.
So he leaped about and shouted and talked, about that something better than gold.

A little Hebrew maid one day, in the Bible we are told.
Sent Namaan the leper to the Prophet of God, for something better than gold.
He fussed and growled and made complaints about doing what he was told.
Til he dipped seven times in the river of Jordan, for something better than gold.
