I wonder oh I wonder

Post by Guest » Tue Jan 10, 2012 5:17 pm

Can anyone help me to find the name and reamining lyrics to a hymn/song that I used to sing in assemblies in Primary School during the late 70's that contained the following words:

I wonder, oh I wonder, what makes the sky blue
I wonder, oh I wonder why god made me and you

Thanks

We used to sing this particular hymn too, with the piano. I'm looking for this too..

I wonder oh I wonder what makes the sky blue
I wonder oh i wonder why god made me and you

How do birds fly,
how do bees sting,
how do flies crawl on the ceiling as they do

I wonder about many things oh do you wonder too.

Or something like that??

I've been hunting for this childhood song for ages too! I am particularly confused by the fact that - in my head at least - one of the lines goes:

"I wonder oh I wonder
Why do beetles eat smew
Why do flies walk on the ceiling
Oh do you wonder too?"

...or something to that effect. And if I had any idea what smew was then I certainly don't now.

Probably no longer relevant to anyone but the lyrics are:

I wonder, oh I wonder, what makes the sky blue?
I wonder about many things, oh, do you wonder too?
Why is the snow cold? And the sun warm?
How do rainbows have so many different hues?
I wonder about many things, oh, do you wonder too?

I wonder, oh I wonder, how do beetles chew?
I wonder about many things, oh, do you wonder too?
How do bees fly? How do worms move?
How do flies walk on the ceiling as they do?
I wonder about many things, oh, do you wonder too?

I wonder, oh, I wonder, how sping grows things new?
I wonder about many things, oh, do you wonder too?
How do bulbs grow? Why are leaves green?
How can petals hide in flower buds of blue??
I wonder about many things, oh, do you wonder too?

And the melody can be found in a music book called Every Colour under the sun.

Thank you so very much. I used to sing this too and can now teach my children. Definitely still relevant:D
