Meeting in the air
Meeting in the air
Here is a song that I remember singing at tent revivals when I was a kid. I thought I would share it before I forget the words to it
Oh there is going to be a meeting in the air
In that sweet, sweet by and by
I am going to meet you, meet you over there
In that home beyond the sky
Such singing you will hear
Never heard by mortal ear
Will be glorious I do declare
For God's own son
Will be the leading one
In that meeting in the air
Oh there is going to be a meeting in the air
In that sweet, sweet by and by
I am going to meet you, meet you over there
In that home beyond the sky
Such singing you will hear
Never heard by mortal ear
Will be glorious I do declare
For God's own son
Will be the leading one
In that meeting in the air

[start with 1st chours-then sing after each verse]
{1st chorus]
[C]O-Theres going to [Em]be a [C]meeting in the air.
In the sweet, sweet, bye and [G]bye.
I'm going to meet you, meet you over there,
in that home beyond the [C]sky.
Such singing you will [Em]hear, never [C]heard by mortal ear,
t'will be glorious I do de[F]clair.
And God's own son, will [C]be the leading [Am]one.
At that [D]meeting [G]in the [C]air.
[end with 2nd chours]--[go to "d" chord]
(1st verse)
[C]You have heard of little Moses and the bullrush.
You have heard of fearless David and his [G]sling.
You have heard the story told of dreaming Joseph,
And of Jonah and the whale you often [C]sing.
There are many, many others through the Bible,
I'd like to meet them all I do de]f[clair.
By and by the lord will surely let us [C]meet [Am]them,
At that [D]meeting [G]in the [C]air.
(2nd verse)
[C]Many things will there be missing in that meeting,
For the mourners bench will have no place at [G]all.
There will never be a sermon preached to sinners,
For the sinner had refused to heed the [C]call.
There will be no mourning over wayward loved ones,
There will be no lonely nights of pleading [F]prayer.
All our burdens and our anguish will be [C]lift-[Am]-ed,
at that [D]meeting [G]in the [C]air.
(3rd verse)
[C]There the douters will be missing altogether,
All the skeptics will be absent on that [G]day.
There will be no grumblers present to disturb us,
And the a-chans will be busy far a-[C]-way.
There the saints will have his 'seal upon their foreheads',
Dressed in raiment none but ransomd ones can [F]wear.
All who have the wedding garments will be [C]pre-[Am]-sent,
At that [D]meeting [G]in the [C]air.
(2nd chours )
[D]O-Theres going to [F#]be a [D]meeting in the air.
In the sweet, sweet, bye and [a]bye.

Meeting in the air
Thank you for all of this - all I could remember was the chorus.
Like I said it was an old camp meeting song that we sang at tent revivals. This is great to see all of it again.

Glad to help. We still sing this often at church. God Bless You.
Meeting in the air
Thanks for posting the complete lyrics. Other sites do not include the 3rd verse, which is rather inhospitable and unloving anyway, but it's sill part of the song. That verse seems to be rather gloating over those doomed to hell. We know God is loving and fair so those doomed souls were given oppertunity and space to turn to God, but that verse always strikes me that way.
Meeting in the air
Yeah, it's true, and the truth all to often hurts, everyone wants to sugar coat things or be in denial, but the simple truth is, it's heaven or hell and you get to pick, but when it's over, you can not change your mind. It's definitely a wake up call to a lost and dying world! I am definitely a verse one and two guy, by God's grace, and by my choice to ask Jesus into my heart as my Lord and Saviour, Thank You Jesus!!!

I have the sheet music for "The Meeting In The Air" if anyone wants it. [email protected]

What is an a-chan?
Meeting in the air
Achan is the guy in the book of Joshua chap 7 that stole some things, instead of destroying everything like instructed, in the battle at Jericho and hid them under his tent. Consequently, when the children of Isreal went to battle at Ai, they lost because there was "sin in the camp".
Achan was found out and he and all his house hold, including animals, were judged by God. (what we do, good or bad, does affect others)

Oh, I'm with you now. I thought it was some American word. Many thanks for explaining.
