Anyone remember song "Ready to Go"

Post by creed70mc » Sat Sep 27, 2008 2:36 pm

Several years ago I believe The Bishops sang a song that I think was titled "Ready to Go". Some of the lyrics included something like: unafraid to lay my head on my pillow and sleep . . . . .but I cannot find it - not even thru their web site. It seems it was out about the same time "Lazarus Come Forth" was a big hit . . any help in finding this would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, My husband and his quartet sang this during the later 80s. It was written, I believe in nearby Dalton, GA and recorded by the writer and his group...can't remember their name, but all male. If this is the same one, there is a line that goes "I've charted my course for a far away shore and I'm re-ady, I'm re-ady to go." I think we may have the recording here...will look for it during next day or so. Dolores

The group that recorded the "Ready to Go" song I am familiar with was The Trailblazers from Dalton, GA. Still looking...this has got me to wandering. Dolores

Thank you for your kind response to my request. I'm just not sure of the words in the song, so unfortunately I can't recall if the lines you mentioned are those from the song I'm thinking of . . .but I think this could very well be the one.
I so appreciate you trying to find the words. Perhaps I was wrong about the artist/group. I heard a group sing this at "The Singing Echos" Blue Springs event (at/near Cleveland, TN ) I thought it was The Bishops - they were there that night . . .but maybe it was another group. At any rate, thanks for researching this - I hope you find more info.
Thanks again.

1st Verse
All of Heaven's getting ready; For the last and final call
Heaven's choir is all assembled; An invitation to one and all
We're waiting with anticipation; It could happen just any day
In the blink of an eye, he'll split the eastern sky
Were gonna hear our Savior say

Chorus
Get up and get ready; we're getting ready to go
Get a move on child cause in a little while, we'll be going home
I've made up my mind, I'm not wasting time
The trumpets about to blow
So get up and get ready we're getting ready to go

2nd Verse
Don't you worry 'bout friends and loved ones; Who have gone before
When the Lord comes back , with a shout; He's gonna shake this earthly floor
The graves are gonna burst wide open; The dead in Christ will rise
So get up and get ready, we're getting ready to fly.

Chorus

1. Ready to suffer grief or pain,
Ready to stand the test,
Ready to stay at home and send
Others if He sees best.

Refrain
Ready to go, ready to stay,
Ready my place to fill,
Ready for service, lowly or great,
Ready to do His will.

2. Ready to go, ready to bear,
Ready to watch and pray,
Ready to stand aside and give,
Till He shall clear the way. [Refrain]

3. Ready to speak, ready to think,
Ready with heart and brain,
Ready to stand where He sees fit,
Ready to bear the strain. [Refrain]

4. Ready to speak, ready to warn,
Ready o'er souls to yearn,
Ready in life, ready in death,
Ready for His return. [Refrain]
