Good afternoon. I was looking for the music to this song so I could sing it in church. I have a copy on a cd and these are the words to it. God Bless. I have been told that I can get a copy of the music from our Christian Bookstore in Washington, NC. The number is 252-946-9296 if you want to order it.
The Three Rusty Nails
This is a story of long ago of a man who owned a little store.
And "I was proud to have my name above the door."
This took place, oh, about two thousand years ago, as I recall,
Located in Jerusalem, just across the street from Pilate's hall.
I had everything I thought I would ever need;
Why, folks would come from miles around, regardless of their creed.
The only one thing I had I didn't think I could never sell,
Was in the corner on a shelf ----three old rusty spike nails.
Then one day a big Roman soldier came through the door,
And as he walked up to me, it seemed he shook the floor.
I said, "Can I help you, Sir?" I said with a voice I 'm sure seemed frail.
He looked at me with a sneering grin and said,
"I'd like to buy some big, big nails."
"Three old rusty spikes is all I have sir."
He said "For me that'll do. For the job I have, three's enough - - -
How much do I owe you?"
He placed the money in my hand, and I was glad to make the sale.
Then I began to wonder, and I asked,
"Sir, what can you do with just three spike nails?"
He said, "Did you ever hear of a man called Jesus the Nazarene?"
"You mean the one that goes about doing good?"
He said "Yes, that's the man." He said, "Today I intend to show the world that I am boss.
For with these three old rusty spikes I'm going to nail Jesus to a cross."
I stood there almost numb. You'll never know how I felt.
I said, "Please sir, don't do that!" - as down on my knees I knelt.
But he just turned and walked away. I got up and followed him.
I said, "Please sir, I'll buy them back!" But he just looked at me and grinned.
And across the distance, I could see the howling mob
Through the tears that filled my eyes.
"Away with him" "Crucify him!" I could hear their angry cries.
And over all the groans and pain,
I could hear the sound of the hammer as that big Roman soldier---
Nailed Jesus to a tree."
With three rusty nails, they nailed Jesus to a tree;
The sun turned to darkness on that day
It was the day that Jesus died
And the blood flowed from his side
The blood washed my sins away.

I'm looking for a song that says this
With three nails
three rusty nails
they nailed him to a tree
You will never know a love like mine
til you meet Jesus
You will never find the joy and (something)
Til you meet Jesus
He was nailed to the rugged cross
(Something ) on
They mocked him and the scold his name
For you he died YEAH for you he cried
It is Finished
anyone know of it?

i am under the impression that Rev Lewis Harrah wrote this song. If anyone can tell me where to look for the official author I would appreciate it.
