Unfortunately I do not have any other details - other than the version with the verse

Be not afraid
I go before you always
Come follow me
And I will give you
Rest

is not the correct version.

Hi Cheech,

Funny thing, someone had asked about this same hymn not too long ago. Here's that post :)

I'm looking for "Won't It Be Wonderful There?"....it goes

Won't it be wonderful there?
Having no burdens to bear
Glorious ringing
Heart bells all singing

This is what I found. Lyrics by James Rowe, Music by Homer Morris...

1.
When with the Savior we enter the gloryland
Won't it be wonderful there
Ended the troubles and cares of the storyland
Won't it be wonderful there

Chorus:

Won't it be wonderful there
Having no burdens to bear
Joyously singing
With heartbells all ringing
O won't it be wonderful there

2.
Walking and talking with Christ the supernal One
Won't it be wonderful there
Praising adoring the matchless eternal One
Won't it be wonderful there

Chorus

3.
There where the tempest will never be sweeping us
Won't it be wonderful there
Sure that forever
the Lord will be keeping us
Won't it be wonderful there

Chorus

Hope this is it. God bless!

This song is quite popular in catholic funerals and it is correct. However, people have written other versions claiming it to be true.

This is not the hymn you are looking for; but when I was trying to find THIS hymn, I found your thread. So, for those looking for this, here it is

Be Not Afraid
1. You shall cross the barren desert, but you shall not die of thirst.
You shall wander far in safety though you do not know the way.
You shall speak your words in foreign lands and all will understand.
You shall see the face of God and live.

Be not afraid. I go before you always. Come follow me, and I will give
you rest.

2. If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown.
If you walk amid the burning flames, you shall not be harmed.
If you stand before the pow'r of hell and death is at your side, know that I am with you through it all.

Be not afraid. I go before you always. Come follow me, and I will give
you rest.

3. Blessed are your poor, for the kingdom shall be theirs.
Blest are you that weep and mourn, for one day you shall laugh.
And if wicked men insult and hate you all because of me, blessed, blessed are you!

Be not afraid. I go before you always. Come follow me, and I will give
you rest.
