Looking for song "In the shadow of the steeple"
I am looking for the lyrics to an older song "In the shadow of the steeple". It is not the one that Casting Crowns sings but a different one. Some of the words are "In the shadow of the steeple, someone's dying. Does anybody care? Can't you hear them crying?"
I would appreciate any help that I can get. I need these words quickly.
Thanks,

One Sacrifice. It's either the name of the group, or the album that song is from. It's an accappela group, and I can't find them either.

it's the Happy Goodman Family and it's called "Shadow of the Steeple". Can't find the lyrics either.

I think it was the Singing Americans, a southern gospel group that has now disbanded.

In the shadow of the steeple
1. Sunday morning sunshine
bathing the land
Sunday Morning people
with Bibles in their hands
he wonders why
they pass him by
walk around him on the street
to shade the light
that replaced the night
he cups his hand to see
cho
in the shadow of the steeple
someone's crying
does anybody care
can't you hear him crying
in the shadow of the steeple
someone's crying
2. Preacher talks about the needs
in a distant land
folks are dying over there
we need to lend a hand
it's getting late
let's pass the plate
just do the best you can
the congregation rises
for the final amen
3. The cold blue steel
he clutches fast
and points it to the place
where the shadow of the steeple
is resting on his face
he feels the sting
the church bells ring
as he stumbles and goes down
they shake their heads
as they walk away
from the figure
on the ground
Bridge;
and in the shadow of the steeple
someone's dying
nobody cared
nobody heard him crying
and in the shadow of the steeple
someone's dying
cho tag:
in the shadows of our steeple
souls are dying
does anybody care
can you hear them crying
souls are out there dying
we need to listen for their crying
we need to reach out to the people
out there underneath our stepple
don't let the shadow of your steeple
find someone crying

God Bless you and thank you for sharing this, I too heard the hymn a couple of sundays ago and have been searching for the words.
May God speak to all our hearts and may we serve our Heavenly Father and share the light of the Word of God to a lost and dying world. we need only to look around our neighborhoods, and families and friends, people on the street. Jesus is at the door, and we are in the last hour. Let us pray with out ceasing and share the
Gospel message of Jesus Christ.
In Christ, His servant

My favorite hymn, but the 2nd chorus is different than what is listed.
Shadow of the Steeple
Sunday morning sunshine, bathing the land.
Sunday morning people, with Bibles in their hand.
He wonders why, they pass him by
And walk around him, on the street.
To shade the light, that replaced the night,
He cups his hands to see.
In the Shadow of the Steeple, Somone's crying
Does anybody care, can't you hear him crying
In the Shadow of the Steeple, Someone's Crying.
The preacher talks, about the needs
In a distant land.
He says folks, are dying over there
We need to lend a hand.
Its getting late, let's pass the plate,
Just do the best you can.
Then the congregation rises, for their final, A-men
While in the Shadow of the Steeple, Someone's Crying
Does anybody care, cant you hear him crying.
In the Shadow of the Steeple, Someone's dying.
The cold Blue Steel, He clutches Fast.
And he points it the place,
Where the shadow of the steeple,
Is resting on his face
He feels the sting, the churbells ring
As he stumbles, and goes down
But folks, just shake their heads,
As they walk away, from the figure on the ground
And in the shadow of the steeple, someone's dying,
Does anybody care, cant you hear him crying
In the shadow of the Steeple, someones dying
And in the Shadow's of our Steeples. souls are dying
Does anybody care. cant you hear them crying
Souls are out there dying, we need to listen for their crying.
Need to reach out to the people, out their underneath our steeple's,
Dont let the shadow of your Steeple, find someone dying.
