Looking for lyrics to this song - Jesus took my burdens away

would love to have words to this old song.I know some of the words but not all. The part I know is............I was down on my knees, down on my knees, praying to my Lord every day, praying to Jesus, to help me please, take all my burdens away. Old satan tried to tell me the bible was a lie, that Jesus did not love me and I was doomed to die but I stayed on my knees, stayed on my knees , Jesus took my burdens away.

Well I only know parts of it as well, my family used to sing it and I know there is a copy somewhere but here is what I remember. (please forgive me if they aren't 100% accurate)

Once I wandered along in blackness of night
Once I struggled alone far from God and right
Then I saw I was lost and in my despair
I fell upon my knees in prayer

I was down on my knees down on my knees
praying to my Lord every day
I was praying to Jesus to hear me please
take my heavy burdens away
Old satan tried to say the Bible was a lie
That Jesus did not love me and I was doomed to die
but I stayed on my knees down on my knees
Jesus took my burdens away

I had fallen so low in sin and in shame
that it seemed almost hopeless to trust His Name
But I lifted my voice and cried in despair
And Jesus heard my humble prayer

My dad used to sing this in church - everyone always wanted him to sing. Some of the words he sang were a little different. . . . I grew up singing it with him. He went home to be with his King in December 2006 - This is one of my favorites.

Thanks so much for posting the lyrics. My grandmother use to sing this song to me. She has gone to be with our Lord and I was.trying to remember to sing it to my niece who never got to meet het great grandma.
