After losing our Mother recently, my sister and I recalled a hymn that we knew as children, but cannot find it anyplace.
"What He giveth, He taketh away, it's the price that we all have to pay,
tho we don't understand it's the touch of God's hand......."
She thinks it came from an old piano book by Homer Rodeheaver. Sound familiar to anyone?
What He Giveth
What He Giveth
Hi Shirl,
After a search on the Web, I found a reference to the hymn here:
http://www.lib.unc.edu/mss/inv/htm/30006.html
Specifically, it appears to be in a book called "KSTP Sunset Valley Barn Dance, Book 3, Deluxe Edition, Favorite Songs". (M.M. Cole Publishing Co. Chicago, Ill. 1955. 96 p. of music.)
If there's a library with a hymn collection near you, you could search there. Or, you can try contacting a librarian at the University of North Carolina and see if they can scan it for you.
Good luck, and God bless!
Steve
