I had traveled oh so lone with no place to call my home
and I wondered if I'd ever find the way
But I'm longing for the day when I hear my Father say
Welcome home my child from all the toil and care

Welcome home my child my Lord to me will say
Welcome home my child one bright eternal day
I'll praise His name throughout eternity
When He says to me my child welcome home

When at last I end this life with its troubles and its strife
and my friends are gathered 'round to say goodbye
Don't weep and cry for me. Soon Jesus I will see
and I'll hear Him say my child welcome home

Welcome home my child my Lord to me will say
Welcome home my child one eternal day
I'll praise His name through eternity
When He says to me my child welcome home

Thanks so much for posting this. I needed the lyrics too because I remembered the melody from the Dixie Echoes singing it on their 1970's "Coming On Strong" album.
