My God and I Walked int he Fields Together
Does anyone have the lyrics to this old solo piece?
My God and I Walked int he Fields Together
I think I have this song at church
it is titled
My God and I
My mother use to sing this song
I'll see if I can find it, if not I put down as much as I can remember.
God Bless.

My God And I
My God and I go in the field together;
We walk and talk as good friends should and do;
We clasp our hands, our voices ring with laughter;
My God and I walk through the meadow's hue.
We clasp our hands, our voices ring with laughter;
My God and I walk through the meadow's hue.
He tells me of the years that went before me
When heavenly plans were made for me to be;
When all was but a dream of dim reflection;
To come to life, earth's verdant glory see.
When all was but a dream of dim reflection;
To come to life, earth's verdant glory see.
My God and I will go for aye together,
We'll walk and talk just as good friends do;
This earth will pass, and with it common trifles,
But God and I will go unendingly.
This earth will pass, and with it common trifles,
But God and I will go unendingly.
My God and I go in the field together;
We walk and talk as good friends should and do;
We clasp our hands, our voices ring with laughter;
My God and I walk through the meadow's hue.
We clasp our hands, our voices ring with laughter;

My father is looking for the piano music for our church. Does any one have it or know where we could get it?
Thanks for the words, it made his day

The piano music for My God and I is in our church's hymnbook titled Zion's Harp. The music for this song is found in hymn number 118 which is actually titled God's Glory Magnified by His Works and has different words. But at the bottom of the page it says something about how the music is from My God and I and is used by permission. This book has many other beautiful hymns in it - some of my favorites are #236, #212,#50,#237. #226, #37.... The words are very meaningful and cause much soul-searching.

My mother-in-law has just be diagnosed with a fast moving cancer, I spoke to her on the phone last night, and she was trying to recall the words to this song, I could remember a few lines from my childhood, and this morning searched in a number of old hymn books I had around. Thank you for making available the comforting words of this song, which I will get in the mail to her right away. Thank you again. Cynthia

I would be cautious posting the music to this hymn as it is a copyrighted work. The copyright, according to the hymn referred to above in the Zion's Harp (#118 - God's Glory Magnified By His Works), is held by "Kalnin, Mohr and Apsit" and has a copyright year of 1957.
The author and composer for the hymn is Austris Whithol.

I first sang this hymn in German (in a Mennonite church) before I ever heard it in English. Now here's an interesting twist--I was at a wedding reception years ago, and the Ukrainian band was playing dance tunes. They struck up this tune, and everybody danced! When I went to the leader afterwards to ask the name of the tune, he said he had no idea--it had always been known in his community (NE Alberta) as a "dance tune."
In my hospital visitation, I've found that many old-timers seem to know it as a hymn, and appreciate it.
