from the cross I can find my way home
from the cross I can find my way home
I heard a hymn only once . . . years ago . . .as a part of an Easter pagaent . . . and have been looking for it ever since. I only remember a couple of lines. It is similar to the one about the little boy who was lost and looking for the cross, but the words are different. Does anyone know this song?
When (If) you see I've lost my way
Point me to the cross, I pray,
From the cross, I can find my way home.
Thanks for any clues.

SHOW ME THE CROSS
WORDS & MUSIC BY TERRY & BARBI FRANKLIN
VERSE 1
JUST A TINY LITTLE BOY STOOD IN TEARS,
ON A BUSY STREET CORNER, WHAT WAS HE DOING HERE?
AS HE TRIED TO EXPLAIN, ALL HE KNEW WAS HIS NAME,
BUT IT WAS LATE AND BEGINNING TO RAIN,
SO I ASKED HIM 'BOUT THE PLACE WHERE HE LIVED,
HE REMEMBERED THE OLD CHURCH WHERE THE BIG CROSS WAS LIT;
THEN HIS EYES OPENED WIDE AND HE SAID WITH A SMILE,
"IF YOU CAN GET ME TO THE CROSS, I CAN FIND MY WAY HOME."
CHORUS
SHOW ME THE CROSS AND I'LL FIND MY WAY HOME,
SHOW ME THE CROSS AND I'LL KNOW WHERE TO GO;
WHEN I'M THERE BENEATH THE CROSS, I'M NO LONGER LOST,
SHOW ME THE CROSS AND I'LL FIND MY WAY HOME.
VERSE 2
THERE WAS A LONELY OLD PATHWAY I HAD WALKED,
IT WAS FAR FROM FAMILIAR AND I FOUND MYSELF LOST;
BUT I REMEMBER THE PLACE WHERE I FIRST SAW HIS FACE,
I CRIED, "LORD, GET ME TO THE CROSS AND I'LL FIND MY WAY HOME."

Thank you for your reply. This is the closest I have seen to the song I heard that once.
I appreciate your taking the time to provide the words to this thought-provoking song. I love the message, whatever the version.

Re: from the cross I can find my way home
I think the song you're looking for was sung by Johnny Cook, who sang with the Happy Goodmans for a few years. You can find it on You Tube.
