Praise Hymn Booklets from the 70s
Praise Hymn Booklets from the 70s
I am trying to find some praise hymn booklets from the 70s, but can't remember the names. One had a red cover, one was light blue. We loved these songs as teenagers because they were modern (at the time) and more uplifting than traditional hymns. We sang them at church camp, youth rallies, and devotionals. One of them had songs such as Freely, Freely; Morning Has Broken; His Name Is Jesus.

Hi Pam,
I'm guessing you're thinking of the Stamps-Baxter series of books. I have my own set of about a dozen and they've been so used they're all worn and torn up, but the music is as fresh and new as ever.
Hymnary is the best reference I know if you want to look for the cover art + the titles of the praise hymns in each book. Unfortunately due to copyright restrictions they can't provide the actual music. But I would use this list to narrow down to the cover(s) that look most familiar to you.

From there, if you're lucky you can find the one you're looking for at Amazon:

If you can't find it on Amazon, post the name of the booklet here and I'll be happy to see if I can track it down for you. Good luck!
