In search of two hymns - Little Children, My steps may not always be in time

The first one
The chorus has a lead and repeat: Little Children ( All of the children) were playing. Crippled children ( all of the children) were walking ( walking again). Something ....... blinded eyes were being opened for their first look at Christ the king.

The second
My steps may not always be in time..... make the Lord a good soldier.

First Look- I know the Inspirations recorded it but no idea who wrote it.

1) I was standing on the banks of a river last night, when I gazed on a city so bright, pearly gates were being opened in the light I could see, Jesus standing with his arms opened wide

C) Golden trumpets were sounding, Heaven's choir were gathering, all the angels were playing in perfect harmony, little babies were smiling, cripple children were walking, blinded eyes were being opened for the first look at Christ the king

2) There were many who were waiting near the portals that day, for their first glimpse of loved ones so dear, all their cares had been forgotten and their troubles were ore', as they stood on that beautiful shore...

Chorus repeats go like this
All of the trumpets in heaven were sounding,
All of the choir dressed in white robes were gathering,
All of the angels their gold harps were playing in perfect harmony

I have a song that is similar to what you are looking for ,Maybe.
It is titled "The First Look"

This is a line in the Chorus:

Bass part is:

Golden trumpets were sounding, heaven's choir was gathering, all the angels
were playing, (all) in perfect harmony; little babies were smiling, crippled children were walking, blinded eyes were being opened, for their first look at Christ the King!

If this is the song you are looking for, post a reply and i'll send the verses

Sorry you got two postings on this, I posted mine about 12 minutes after Jessica36 posted hers. the words are a little different in the chorus, but it is the same song, and she is right, the Inspirations recorded this several years ago.

Can't find the sheet music, but you can buy Ila Knight's songbook with "The First Look" in it. Here is the site: www.theinspirations.com
