Re: Can It Be True
Thanks for posting the lyrics. I used to hear this sung as a 6/7 year old child when my parents ran a youth group, held in our home in the south of England. Just remembered it in my quiet time this morning. I could remember pretty much all the words. It used to have such an impact on me then. Beautiful words and tune and truth.

Haven’t heard or sang this song in decades! - Beautiful tune, powerful lyrics. I used to play it on guitar, in D major key, I think. I was only a beginner. I mean to sing and play it again soon. Grateful I got the lyrics here.

Does anyone know where I could find the sheet music for this hymn?

Re: Can It Be True
Hi, Can it be True is a lovely song, I looked on You Tube and found a Youth Praise version of this sung by Pelle Karlsson qv. Happy memories of Youth Praise in the 60s and 70s which did for Christian Youth what pop was doing for the masses back then. Thank you Michael Baughen et al who were in tune with the Spirit in those years and faithfully produced all the gold that they did.

Re: Can It Be True
I used to play this on the guitar in the late 70s in our church. My sister and I typed up a song book for our youth group mass and this this is straight out of the book.
I keep searching for someone to sing this song and put it on Spotify! Let me know if you have found a singer who sings the original version. Bernie, if you read this, please record it and share it on Spotify!
CAN IT BE TRUE
Can it be true, the things they say of you
You walked this earth, sharing with friends you knew
All that they had, the work, the joy, the pain
That we might find the way to heav'n again.....
And day by day, you still return this way
But we recall there was a debt to pay
Out of your love for your own world above
You left that holy place
Your endless love to prove.....
Can it be true the things they did to you?
The death the shame and were your friends so few
Yet you returned again alive and free
Can it be true, my Lord
It had to be......
It had to be.
