Who wrote Amazing Love?

Post by Ronda Fiechter » Wed Oct 14, 2015 12:42 am

chorus: Amazing Love, how can it be
That God would give His Son for me,
To pay my sin debt and let me go free?
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
I once was lost, but now am found.
Amazing Love, how can it be
That God would give His life for me.

Some of the Amazing Love lyrics are part of "And Can It Be That I Should Gain?", written by Charles Wesley nearly 300 years ago (around 1738, according to the Blue Letter Bible's website). Amazing Grace had John Newton for the author, and he wrote the lyrics around 1779 (again, IAW the Blue Letter Bible site).

The words you have, as arranged, come from a praise and worship song, IINM, but I don't know the author/arranger.

Hi Ronda,
In the context Brother Jonathan is using it
I'm thinking IINM is Internet slang for
if I'm not mistaken
If I am mistaken, He will clear that up for us.

Ronda, Nancy, IINM is a shorthand for, as Nancy said, "If I'm not mistaken". Some other "shorthand" or netspeak as some call it would be LOL for laughing out loud, IIRC for If I remember correctly, AFAIK for as far as I know, and there are many others. It helps to have children who learn these and share them with parents, as mine did!

'Glad to know! And here I thought IINM was the abbreviation for a popular praise and worship songbook which would have helped me find out who wrote it! (my original question....... IIRC) LOL!

Oh, Nancy, that was good! I'll have to come up with words to fit the abbreviation!

Hey Nancy, how about these?

IINM: Incredibly Irresistible New Music

IIRC: Instant Inspiration (for a) Rookie Choir

ASL: Always Sing Loudly (you should read John Wesley's "Rules for Singing"--he laid it on the line!)

AFAIK: Always Faithful Always Inspiring Koruses (okay, I took some grammatical liberty there--kind of like "Songs 4 Worship" and "Praises 2 Him" and so forth). Hey, what's wrong with being creative?

Have a blessed day!
