Hymn with an academic theme

I'm looking for a specific hymn that I've seen in a Presbyterian hymnal. The over all theme was academic - something like beakers boiling or bubbling in a labratory. In my experience it's typcially sung at graduation convocation ceremonies - but for the life of me, I just can' think of what it is. Help.
