They Came from the East and the West

I have been looking for the nameand lyrics to a song that my mother used to play and the only thing I have is the words"They ame from the East and the West". That was the start of the refrain to the song. She played by ear, but used the songbook for the words when she sang. It is an old, old song and my mother has been gone for 27 years and my siblings don't remember the song. I would appreciate any help.
