Thank you so much for these lyrics. I sang this song as a high school student. I went to a Catholic school. It always brought me such comfort.

Thank you for having sites like this it made my search fast, really appreciated it,
this song is often sung in masses and with that huge over head projector or with that giant light emitting diode boards it is easy to sing along, then i heard it playing in a pc and its in piano, so i decided to look it on the internet, and the problem is i also do not know what the title is, so i just typed the first line and viola! here it is...

Hi Guest,

The phrase "I know you are near, O Lord" appears to be from Psalm 119:151, but the main inspiration fo the hymn is Psalm 139, which is a beautiful Psalm in itself.

1 O LORD, you have searched me
and you know me.

2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.

3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.

4 Before a word is on my tongue

Thanks for the lyrics... i used to sang this song every night. and every night... i really love this song, i was a member of a church choir when i was in high school and i learned this song... really touched my heart, i couldnt help my self to cry every time i sang this song... tears of joy, because i know God always standing at my side...

Thanks for finding the song for me. This is my favourite song when I was growing up and now I would like to teach it to my two young daughters. This song reminds me of who God is to us that no matter what He is always there for us. Thank for maintaining this site.. Flora
